The competition for the
concept of a multifunctional complex on the reclaimed lands of Vasilyevsky Island was closed with the presentation of projects at the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of Saint Petersburg
On November 6, 2021, the online defense of the concepts of a multifunctional complex on the reclaimed lands of Vasilyevsky Island created by the companies participating in the international competition took place.
Five world-famous architect bureaus contested the victory: Adjaye Associates (United Kingdom), Gensler (USA), MVRDV (Netherlands), Scott Brownrigg (United Kingdom), Zaha Hadid Architects (United Kingdom).
The competition technical client was OPEN URBAN, the competition organizer. The concepts were evaluated by the international jury consisting of Vladimir Anatolievich Grigoriev (chairman), Chief Architect of the city of Saint Petersburg, Chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning; Nathalie Rozencwajg (London), architect, founder of the international architectural practice NAME; Ruurd Gietema (Rotterdam), urban planner and partner of KCAP; Patrick Majors (Rotterdam), architect, founder and partner of Orange Architects; Evgeny Lvovich Gerasimov (Saint Petersburg), architect, head of Evgeny Gerasimov and Partners bureau; Alexander Vladimirovich Tsimailo and Nikolay Georgievich Lyashenko (Moscow), architects, co-founders of Tsimailo, Lyashenko and Partners bureau; Semyon Ilyich Mikhailovsky (Saint Petersburg), architectural historian, Rector of the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts; Ilya Vladimirovich Oskolkov-Tsentsiper (Moscow), designer, cultural figure, entrepreneur; Andrey Alexandrovich Birzhin (Moscow), entrepreneur, founder and President of the development company GloraX; and Dmitry Alexandrovich Nizkovsky (Moscow), Development Vice President of GloraX.
